On Friday, July 30, 1993 at around 7:45 a.m., John Bealer left his home to make the short commute to his job as a mechanic at a used car dealership only 1/4 to 1/2 mile down the road from his house on Route 309 in Germansville. At around noon that day, John got his pay from the dealership and returned home. That was the last time he was seen.
When John's ex-wife, who shared the home with him, came home at around 2:00 that afternoon, she noticed that the garage door was open, their Plymouth was inside with the hood up and a radio was playing. There was no sign of John. Inside the house, she found his wallet and keys, but no John. None of their other vehicles were missing.
At 6:00 the following morning, she reported John missing.
Over the weekend, roughly 300 volunteers did a ground search of the rural area. A state police helicopter searched from overhead. John Bealer has never been found.
